What It Takes To Be a Foster Home

DogFace2

Coco, a rescue-foster dog, from easternherdingdogrescue.org needed a safe place to whelp and care for her pups until they reached adoption age and were primed for a successful connection with a forever home. This the story of how she came to be with the Carter’s and the journey they went through toward their forever home. This is also about the foster dog process in general and the many people in the Shelter-Rescue-Foster community that do their best to make channel every pet to a good home. We’re very glad at TSPN to participate and get to know and see CoCo and the 7 puppies make their successful transition to their forever homes.

CoCo’s arrived on March 24th 2015. Her 7 “CoCo pups” were born on 3/26 and 3/27. There are other videos with updates and close ups of their journey while the pups are weaning, there is also a video of the live feed that was broadcast over the net of the births.

By the time CoCo was adopted, she was well socialized and confident that trips in the car were not frighting. We warned her new people she does like to be a speed bump. She likes to lay in the path to keep an eye on things. This are some updates from CoCo’s new family (Mother Father and Son):

CoCo’s new mom says; “Rylee [the son] still struggles some about Tessa, (a dog they lost a short time before adopting CoCo) but CoCo is definitely mending our hearts. She has a heart of gold, and the fact that she is the way she is after God only knows what happened in the beginning part of her life, is a blessing. Oh, also, the last day we were camping, after we got back from swimming before leaving, since most everyone left, I did leave her off the lead and she was perfect. Never wandered or anything, walked with me some, and was very well behaved. I couldnt think of a more perfect match for us than her!”

“[CoCo] does get under my feet often, and I feel bad when I actually bop her nose with my knee, but she never takes it personally, and continues to follow me around. She greets me every morning, and sits next to me as I do my makeup. She’s not fond of the fan in our room but is getting used to it, and the mirror was a task to walk past without wondering who the “other dog” was!”

“So funny this morning, I put CoCo on the bed and she was going after Steve’s [The dad] hand under the blanket like a cat! It was the goofiest thing ever!”
